BIOGRAPHY
I studied Illustration at the School of Visual Arts, earning my BFA in 2017. My subject matter is based on sketches made from life, often street trash or bar scenes. I process these images, with a clear and open mind, through extensive sketching, collaging, and reworking using various mixed media and digital art programs. I transfer once more onto large wood panels or masonite. Oil paints are combined with various glues and adhesives, charcoal, different types of paint, and plaster-of-paris. Often my paintings include recurring characters that act as self-portraits. Some of these characters are my own, and others are characters I identify with, taken from various media. I’m influenced by many modernist painters, and by American expressionist painters like Jack Levine and Max Weber.
